Visit Museo Maritimo

This museum comprises of four museums situated in a former prison complex that was closed down in 1947. The museum is a great destination to go for history lovers as you will get an insight into the history of the city here. The museums here are the Maritime Museum, the Antarctic Museum, the Marine Art Museum, and the popular Prison Museum. The city existed because it was once a penal colony for re-offenders in Argentina as numerous prisoners were shipped down to the city from Buenos Aires during the early 1900s. In the museum, you are going to see part of the original prison which is a great place to learn about the popular prisoners that were brought here during the period with the infamous punishments.
